If you ask me, I would suggest not reading the paper. Once you hear my argument, you'll probably agree with me.
The only form of news that I ever actually listen/watch avidly is Twitter, and The Morning Freak Show on 96.1 Kiss. If you consider either of those really news.
In my opinion, ignorance is bliss. How many times have you heard of a person reading some article or watching the news and hearing about some story that is nothing but heartbreaking? I didn't follow the Casey Anthony Trial. I don't care about Occupy Wall Street. I'm seventeen years old and I plan on being as ignorant to the world around me as I possibly can.
Thats why kids get the reputation of being mindless/dumb to the world going on around them.

ReplyDeleteschool and education is obviously a different story. you don't have a choice, and you're taught from the time you were born that you have to care about your education because it directly correlates to the outcome of your life. Generally.
You dont have to WORRY about the news, but you should be aware of events going on in the world around you, i dont watch the news every night, but i occasionally look at the headlines on the online postgaztte and if i see something interesting ill read it. Im not saying read the paper everyday hun, but be informed so ya dont be the only one that dosnt know that there was a war in egypt, or kim jong il died.

I knew about each of those without watching the news or reading the paper. at all. word of mouth keeps people aware of what's going on, as well as all of the virtual portals full of information. through social networking alone, you could easily hear about it. point disproven.
ReplyDeletewithout any form of news the world would not be aware of anything. how would we know if someone discovered the cure for cancer if it wast released to the press. i dont read the paper copy of the paper but a lot of people do that arnt tech savy but i love reading the stuff online. How else would i have found out the scores to the other football games if it wasnt for the post-gazette.
